American Tort Reform Association Announces Asbestos Litigation Watch Website

One needs to look no further than U.S. Bankruptcy Judge George Hodges’ Garlock Sealing Technologies decision in a Charlotte federal court last year or the recent resignation of NY Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, in light of his indictment on asbestos fraud charges, to begin to understand the degree of fraud and abuse that exits in asbestos litigation and trusts claims, a system with very limited oversight and transparency. The American Tort Reform Association recently announce the launch of a new micro-website called “Asbestos Litigation Watch” to shine a light on these and other asbestos litigation abuses, which threaten to take away compensation for legitimate future claimants and burden businesses with the legal costs of these fraudulent claims.

The South Carolina Coalition for Lawsuit Reform (SCCLR) serves as the united voice for the business community on tort and workers' compensation issues; coordinating lobbying, legal, grassroots and public relations activities.
